Virasat 2017: The IIS University’s students showcased the color of Navarasa
10th March, 2017: Jaipur: She is free in her wilderness. She is a wanderess. Time for her isn’t something to fight against. Her life flows with passion, she sparks divine transformation. She is a warrior, she is a survivor, she is a winner. A contemporary dance performance showcasing life of today’s women stole the heart of everyone leaving the audience spell bound. This dancing prowess was showcased on the occasion of 22nd Annual Cultural Eve Virasat 2017 of The IIS University held on Friday.
‘Virasat 2017’ is the cultural extravaganza reflecting a traditional legacy which is carried forward with poise and elegance. It transpose to a kaleidoscopic blend of the classical and the modern.
Dr. Ashok Gupta, Vice-Chancellor of the University formally welcomed the Chief Guest Smt. Kiran Maheshwari, Higher & Technical Education, Sanskrit & Science and Technology Minister, Government of Rajasthan and Guest of Honor Ms. Aruna Rajoria, IAS and Alumna of the University and acquainted them with the achievements of the students in the session 2016-17. Dr. Gupta expressed pride on the fact The IIS University has achieved a lot since its inception.
The programme began in a traditional fervour by invoking the divine spirits.
The representatives of various clubs, society and guild named as VIBGYOR of The IIS University staged a flag march to represent the dignity and discipline of the university.
The mood of the cultural eve set with the amalgamation of the colors of Navrasa through an enchanting Semi Classical Ballet. When the Rasikas experienced the insightful beauty of the lyrics, the audience laid in a trance. The eyes expressed the emotions and the body of the dancers swirled in tune which left everybody awestruck.
The rich semi-classical dance form and the splendid rhythms of divine sufi music took the audience to the Sufi world and left everybody with the divine feeling.
Students set an example of glorious culture of Rajasthan. The students showcased the very spirit of Rajasthan captured perfectly in all its folksy glory.
Next presentation was the Fashion Fiesta where models of the university unveiled latest fashion trends created by the students with great passion. Designer Aishwarya Rathore, Jagveer Kaur and Jyoti Yadav celebrated the strength and spirit of womanhood through her collection Angels’ Army. Inspired from military wear, collection re-created a sense of authority believing in fairer but not the weaker sex.
Whoever said that formal is boring and that corporate wear is anything but cool….think again! Striped Saga themed collection of designer Mitali Patni comprises formal wear rendered in a whole new avatar which is the striped look in blue, grey and black running amok, creating a fashionably illusory effect.
Inspired by the Vagabond, gypsy style collection Urban Gypsy by the designers Ananya Tak, Ashi Agarwal, Karishma Khandelwal and Sakshi Khandelwal created 70s hippie culture giving Pushkar-meets-Goa look! The flared skirts and stylish tops in vibrant geometrical and ornamental prints using bold colours exemplify the amalgamation of two design sensibilities.
The cultural eve ends on a musical note when audience rejoiced in soul feel and expression of captivating fusion performance by the nightingales of the university.
Also, the Academic toppers as well as achievers in various cultural and sports activities were awarded on the occasion. Apeksha Tickoo was declared Pride of the University, Bhavika Shekhawat and Manika Sharma got the title of Talent of the year and Akanksha Sharma bagged the title Voice of the year.
The programme was a wonderful synchronization of the Classical and the Modern, the Indian and the Western. It was a fusion of colourful costumes, melodious music and crisp choreography; in short, a cultural gala imbued with spirit of bringing together the best of colours, music and dance.
