14th March, 2019: Jaipur: I was born in 1947, made out of hand-spun cotton on a charkha, dyed in the three colors of courage, peace and the earth. I symbolize Independence…Tiranga reminds the people to be nice, graceful, peaceful and prosper. The students of IIS (Deemed to be University) brought out the beauty of the colors of Tiranga in the Semi Classical Ballet Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga on the occasion of 24th Annual Cultural Eve Virasat 2019 of the University held on Thursday.

‘Virasat 2019’ is the cultural extravaganza reflecting a traditional legacy which is carried forward with poise and elegance. It transpose to a kaleidoscopic blend of the classical and the modern. This very time the annual function has been dedicated to patriotism and the martyr soldiers of Balaghat.

Dr. Ashok Gupta, Vice-Chancellor and Dr. Raakhi Gupta, Rector & Registrar of the University formally welcomed the Special Guest Princess Mrigesha Kumari of Rajkot Kunwarni Sahiba of Khimsar and Sh. Ashish Sharma, TV Artiste and Alumnus of IIS and his wife and Actress Archana T. Sharma and Guest of Honor Ms. Mamta Bhupesh, State Minister for Women & Child Development, Govt. of Rajasthan and acquainted them with the achievements of the students in the academic session 2018-19. Dr. Gupta expressed pride in the fact The IIS University has achieved a lot since its inception.

The programme began in a traditional fervour by invoking the divine spirits.
The representatives of various clubs, society and guild named as VIBGYOR of The IIS University staged a flag march to represent the dignity and discipline of the university.

Contemporary Dance

Our Flag does not fly because wind moves it, it flies with the last breath of each soldier who dies protecting it. Far from home and loved ones, these heroes sacrifice their own lives so the entire nation can sleep in peace. The stories of their courage and passion are larger than life. The students of the university celebrated the valour of our brave soldiers and commemorated their heroic life with their contemporary dance performance.

The next set of performers showcased the beautiful valleys of Kashmir in the graceful dance forms of Dogri and Rouf.

Nightingales of the university spread the essence of world peace through their melodious tunes on various songs such as Heal the World…Jahan ho Pyar ka Mausam and Har taraf sirf Pyaar ho.

Fashion Fiesta

Next presentation was the Fashion Fiesta where models of the university unveiled latest fashion trends created by the students of Fashion and Textile Department of IIS University with great passion. Old fabrics come in a whole new avatar using the effect of marbeling technique in the collection ‘Downtown Chic’ presented by designers Bhawna Verma and Muskan Sainik. Beautified in tinted rose, indigo blue, marble white and golden yellow, in pure crepe, taffeta, silk and glazed cotton, this collection of ‘Loud Street Fashion’ draws inspiration from the four major cities of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur. In the spirit of funky street art, loose trousers and skirts, teamed with a baggy shirt, lend a look that spells casual chic.

To promote jute to make it commercially viable, designers Anushka Jain, Ayushi Gour and Vanisha Jangid present their collection Ritzy Earthbound. Digitally-printed, asymmetrical ‘street wear’ in stripes as well as voluminous jackets in shades of rose pink, olive green and amber brown, lend a snazzy look to this exquisite collection. Designers have given their bit to sustainable fashion through their collection.

Yoga is an art of living, acknowledged all over the globe for its benefits. In a journey to discover the infinite within, the sportswomen of the university in finest Yoga presentation demonstrated various Asanas such as Bhujangaasana, Kapotaasana, Trikonasana, Chakrasana, Padmasana and others.

Also, the Academic toppers as well as achievers in various cultural and sports activities were awarded on the occasion. Niharika Joshi was declared IISian of the year, Rakshita Singh got the coveted title Pride of the Year, Vaishali Singh and Sharvani Kapoor got the title of Voice of the year and Model of the Year respectively. While Saloni Agarwal, Kanwal Shergill, Hemani Sharma, Riya Choudhary, Tanisha Sharma and Nimisha Agarwal got the title of Service Above Self. Rekha Sukhani declared Researcher of the Year.

The programme was a wonderful synchronization of the Classical and the Modern, the Indian and the Western. It was a fusion of colourful costumes, melodious music and crisp choreography; in short, a cultural gala imbued with spirit of bringing together the best of colours, music and dance.
