‘Vividha 2017’ the media fest concluded
11th January, 2017: Jaipur: ‘Vividha 2017’-The Media Fest organized by the department of Mass Communication and Journalism of The IIS University concluded on Wednesday. Chief guest Shri K.G.Suresh, Director General, IIMC, New Delhi and Guest of Honor Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Senior Journalist, TV Anchor and Writer inaugurated this two day event along with the 5th Bazaar on Campus organized by the e-cell Chrysalis of the university.
In the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Suresh apprised the students with the nuances of the media industry. He said that media has two eras the one is “before Google Era” and the other one is “After google” and we belong to the latter one.
“A journalist should not always sell negativity. There are positive people in our society and many positive things are happening. So, rather ignoring them we should bring them to public notice”, he said.
Guest of Honor Dr. Mukesh had given a few tips on how to become a good journalist. “Journalism is something which is related to society and being a journalist we should not forget that”, he said.
The first day of inter-collegiate media festival witnessed a variety of interesting and enriching activities including Ad Mad, Media Quiz and Photography competition covering all facets of fun and learning. A total of 14 teams from various colleges and universities have participated in which The IIS University stood on first position while Subodh College and St. Wilfred College grabbed second and third position respectively.
The final Cut – Film Festival was organized wherein aspiring filmmakers had showcased their talent. A film based on declining Rajasthani Cinema “Lost Cinema” directed by Priyadarshini Chaudhary stood first in Non-Fiction category while “Ketli” presented by Rajshree Gaur, Shivali and Shikha bagged first position in fiction category which inherited a message that “children are born to learn and not to earn”.
In the photography competition, Madhumita Bhattacharya and Anubha Khandelwal from The IIS University bagged first and third prize respectively whereas Nilesh Jain from National Institute of Photography stood at second position.
In the RJ Hunt competition, Akshay Udawat from S.S.Jain Subodh College grabbed first prize while Rishabh Gupta and Palak Gupta, both from Jaipur National University got second and third prize.
Bazaar on Campus
To instil Entrepreneurial skills amongst the students, CHRYSALIS E-cell of the IIS University has organized for 2 days, the 5th Bazaar on Campus. This E-bazaar aims at manifesting the latent entrepreneurial spirit of the students as well as teaching them skills and strategies of business. There are 21 business plans proposed by the budding student entrepreneurs and these will be evaluated on various business parameters.
The Most Innovative Business Concept award went to Paper Pearl stall put up by the Department of Physics. Tarot Card Reading Stall received Most Sustainable Business Venture, Hot Bites got the Best Decorated Stall title, Best Theme Stall title went to HuppShe and Squander with Rags and Chaw bagged Campus Company and Star Udyami title.
